Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is the player's maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
The competitors traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.
The opponent rescued four early opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, he secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
